FAMILY GENEALOGY
JOURNEY TO RECLAIM MY HERITAGE

PATERNAL FAMILY GENEALOGY SECTION INTRODUCTION

Those who may have read my first book, "Lost Son" may have read the chapter entitled, "Birth Father's Story." For those who have not the very brief story is growing up I never knew my birth father...not even his name. During the course of the search for my birth mother I learned his name.

At that time I was concentrating on finding my birth mother and did nothave an interest in finding him. I put his name aside.

After finding my birth mother in 1986 and hearing her story I felt the need to hear his side and decided to try and find him.

I completed that journey in 1990. We exchanged a few phone calls and letters and he was open about the fact that he was indeed my birth father. I visited him once for an hour on his back patio...I was not invited into his home.

After our meeting his letters became far and few in between and the phone calls stopped completely.

He passed away in August of 1994.

During the time I was searching and after discovering I was able to communicate with two of his half sisters (my aunts). For whatever reason those communications stopped shortly after his death and laid dormant until recently here in 2013.

I was aware of a 1st cousin (daughter of one of his sisters) but have never had any communication with her.

Earlier this summer out of the blue I received an E mail from her hoping I would call her. Though we had never communicated I was aware of her name and as soon as I saw it I knew who she was.

I called her and we are developing a relationship as I hope also to do with her Mom.

Due to things she shared with me I decided after over twenty years to pick up the search for information on my birth father's family if at all possible.

What follows in the chapters to the right tells the story. The final two chapters is something I have included in my two books. my maternal family genealogy section and in a number of article in various publications to assist others to be able to do what I have done if they so wish.

This is not meant to be a "family tree" many I am sure have seen but rather the sharing of a story and photographs...though I do share names, dates, etc. A family tree I am building elsewhere.

So come along with me and discover what I have discovered of my birth father's family!
